Connect Claude to LinkedIn: search, message and invite from a chat

Claude reaches LinkedIn through a browser extension, an official-API connector or a LinkedIn MCP server. Only the MCP server gives it search, profiles, messages and invitations as tools. With Curviate it takes two steps, on your own account and inside its limits.

TL;DR

  • Claude connects to LinkedIn through an MCP connector: add Curviate's URL in Claude's Connectors, sign in once, and Claude can search, read profiles, message and invite.
  • Curviate's MCP server works on Build at $30 per LinkedIn account a month; Automate at $60 adds Motions and one inbox for every account.
  • Unlike a browser extension or a posting-only connector, every send runs on your own account inside per-account limits that stop the action.

Claude can work on LinkedIn once you give it a connector: a remote MCP server that turns LinkedIn actions into tools Claude can call. With Curviate, you paste one URL into Claude's Connectors, sign in, and ask in plain words: "Find heads of RevOps at SaaS companies in Germany and draft a note for each." I build Curviate, so this guide is a founder's view, with every outside fact taken from Anthropic's, LinkedIn's and the vendors' own pages.

Does Claude connect to LinkedIn?

Yes. Claude connects to LinkedIn through a browser extension, a connector on LinkedIn's official API, or a LinkedIn MCP server that acts through your account. Claude has no LinkedIn sign-in of its own, so without one of these it cannot act for you. Each route gives Claude a different reach and carries a different risk for your account.

  1. A browser extension. Claude in Chrome reads, clicks, navigates and fills forms in your own browser tab, on Claude's paid plans (Anthropic help).
  2. A connector on LinkedIn's official API. Composio's LinkedIn toolkit, for example, has 25 tools for posts, comments, your own profile, company pages and ad targeting.
  3. A LinkedIn MCP server that acts through your connected account. Curviate is one: people search, profiles, messages, invitations, posts, Sales Navigator and Recruiter, as tools.

The route decides what you can ask for. "Post this update" works on all three. "Find 40 founders in Munich, read their profiles and invite the best 10" needs search and invitations, which only the third route exposes as tools.

Route 1: Claude in Chrome drives the LinkedIn website

The extension sees the page you are on and acts on it the way a person would. It needs no setup on LinkedIn's side, which makes it the quickest thing to try.

It also runs into LinkedIn's rules head on. LinkedIn's help center says it does not permit "browser plug-ins, or browser extensions that scrape, modify the appearance of, or automate activity on LinkedIn's website," and that members using them "risk having their accounts restricted" (LinkedIn help). Anthropic itself calls the extension "still risky."

There is a practical cost too. The work happens in your tab, at the speed of page loads, and nothing counts how many invitations went out today across your sessions.

Route 2: a connector on LinkedIn's official API

Official-API connectors are the safest route for publishing. Composio's LinkedIn toolkit signs in with OAuth and lets Claude create and delete posts, comment, read your own profile and pull company page and post statistics.

What its tool list does not contain is the outreach half: no people search, no message send, no invitation.

If your goal is "Claude writes and schedules my posts," this route is enough. If your goal is "Claude helps my reps book meetings," it is not.

Route 3: a LinkedIn MCP server on your own account

An MCP server built for LinkedIn work exposes the actions a rep does by hand. On Curviate, Claude sees tools such as search_people, get_profile, get_company, send_message and send_connection_request, plus the Unibox and, on Automate, Motions.

The difference from the extension is where the brakes sit. Each connected account has a limit for every action, set to its LinkedIn plan, and the call is refused before anything reaches LinkedIn once a limit is hit. Working hours and warm-up apply whether you act or Claude does (Curviate MCP).

The difference from the official API is reach: search, profiles, invitations and messages are all there, along with Sales Navigator and Recruiter with your own licence.

How do you add Curviate to Claude?

It takes two steps in the Claude apps, and no API key.

  1. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector, and paste https://app.curviate.com/mcp.
  2. A Curviate window opens. Sign in, choose all your Teams or one Team, and approve.

Custom connectors work on every Claude plan, Free included, which allows one custom connector (Anthropic help). On Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds Curviate once and each member connects with their own sign-in, so every rep works only from the accounts they may use.

Claude Code takes one command, then /mcp and Authenticate:

shell
# Add the hosted server, then run /mcp, pick curviate, choose Authenticate
claude mcp add --transport http curviate https://app.curviate.com/mcp

The same URL works in ChatGPT (developer mode, then Plugins, then New connector), Codex, Gemini CLI and Cursor, each signing in with OAuth (client setup). Claude holds a token you can revoke from Curviate's dashboard, never your LinkedIn sign-in.

What can you ask Claude to do on LinkedIn?

Ask the way you would brief a colleague. Claude picks the tools; you approve the sends.

  • "Find product leads in Munich, read their last posts and draft a connection note for the five best."
  • "Go through my unread LinkedIn chats across all my accounts and sort them into interested, question and not now."
  • "Withdraw invitations older than a month."
  • "Draft a Motion that invites my Q4 founders list and follows up once after they accept. Don't start it until I say so."
Claude searching people, reading profiles and drafting notes through Curviate's MCP server. Claude asks before it sends.

Can Claude read your LinkedIn profile? With a connector, yes: get_profile reads any profile your connected account can see, including your own. Curviate marks every tool as reading or writing, so you can let searches and profile reads run freely and keep messages and invitations on approval.

One setting to know: in Research mode, Claude can call connector tools without asking. Turn off Curviate's writing tools in the Search and tools menu for that chat, or leave the connector off.

For a founder who only posts, the official-API connector is the low-risk choice. For anyone whose Claude should find people and start conversations, the MCP server is the only route that does it as tools, with limits in front of every send.

No route is risk-free. LinkedIn's User Agreement bans bots and "unauthorized automated methods" for sending messages and adding contacts (section 8.2), and Curviate's own terms say its design "lowers the risk; it does not remove it." How the brakes work in practice is in whether LinkedIn automation is safe.

From one chat to a team: Build or Automate

Curviate charges per connected LinkedIn account, never per person, and the MCP server has no plan gate.

  • Build, $30 per account a month. Claude makes every LinkedIn call itself: search, read, message, invite, post, Sales Navigator and Recruiter with your licence.
  • Automate, $60 per account a month. Claude can also build a Motion, start it across every rep's account and read results per step, per account and per variant. Replies from every account land in one Unibox.

Below Automate, creating a Motion answers 403 TIER_REQUIRED, so a chat that starts as a research helper can grow into a team's outbound without a new tool. A team of five reps pays $300 a month on Automate, with the sales manager and an assistant at no extra cost.

If you would rather compare every LinkedIn MCP server on tools and price, read seven LinkedIn MCP servers compared. If your automations live in workflows rather than chats, LinkedIn DMs and invites from n8n uses the same API.

Try it on your own account: 7 days of Automate, no card.

Give Claude your LinkedIn, inside your rules

Connect one account, paste https://app.curviate.com/mcp into Claude's Connectors and ask for your first list. Claude does the searching, reading and drafting; your limits decide how much goes out, and you decide what gets sent.
