How Claude Code works with Curviate

Claude Code runs the Curviate CLI like any shell command, reads its JSON and branches on its exit codes, and the Curviate plugin’s skills teach it the commands. Or add Curviate’s MCP server with claude mcp add, for the same tools Claude uses in chat. Many teams set up both: the CLI for scripts and bulk work, MCP for quick lookups.

Pick a scope
claude mcp add keeps the server to the current project by default (local scope, in ~/.claude.json). --scope user loads it in every project; --scope project writes .mcp.json for your team, and Claude Code asks each person to approve it.

Keep the key out of the file
A --header on the command line is expanded by your shell, so the key itself is saved. In .mcp.json, write the variable instead and Claude Code fills it when it connects.

Large answers
Claude Code warns when one tool answer passes 10,000 tokens and caps it at 25,000 by default (MAX_MCP_OUTPUT_TOKENS). For long lists, the CLI’s --fields and --json keep the output small.

Exit codes say what to do
Exit 6 means wait retry_after seconds. Exit 13 means your own safety limit refused it and nothing reached LinkedIn: stop, don’t loop. Exit 10 means the recipient can’t be messaged: don’t resend.

Questions about Curviate x Claude Code

Should Claude Code use the CLI or MCP?

Either works. The CLI gives Claude Code plain commands with JSON output it can read and script; MCP gives it the same tools Claude and ChatGPT use. Many teams set up both.

Where does my API key live?

With the CLI, curviate setup saves it in a local profile without ever printing it. With MCP, keep it in an environment variable or sign in with OAuth where Claude Code supports it.

Which LinkedIn actions can Claude Code use?

All of them: search, profiles, companies, the inbox, invitations, posts, scheduled drafts, plus Sales Navigator and Recruiter for premium seats.
