TL;DR
- If your AI agent runs LinkedIn, Curviate is the better Unipile alternative: a hosted MCP server whose tools are LinkedIn actions, a CLI built for agents, 19 open skills, and typed operations for the feed, notifications and LinkedIn Groups.
- Unipile is a unified messaging API for software companies, with LinkedIn next to WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, email and calendars. Its own README calls its MCP server "a build-time tool".
- Counted the same way, Curviate's API has 130 LinkedIn operations (39 beta). Unipile's stable v1 has 63, its beta v2 has 119.
- Curviate's per-account safety policy is read and set by API. Unipile's limits guide says of invitations: "We don't enforce any limits on our side".
- For one or two accounts Curviate costs less: EUR 20 per account per month (EUR 16 billed annually) against Unipile's EUR 49 base, excl. VAT.
I build Curviate, a LinkedIn API, CLI, MCP server and TypeScript SDK for AI agents, and Curviate runs on Unipile's infrastructure for its LinkedIn connectivity. Both products reach the same LinkedIn, so this page is about what each one gives a team building LinkedIn agents on top of it. Every Unipile fact comes from its public pages, docs and OpenAPI specs, as of October 2, 2026.
Is Curviate a good Unipile alternative for your agent?
Yes, if your own agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) or a tool you build should operate LinkedIn. Unipile is built for a different buyer: a SaaS product that connects many end users across many channels.
Three things decide it for an agent. Curviate's MCP server exposes LinkedIn actions as tools, while Unipile describes its own as "a build-time tool". Curviate has typed operations for notifications, the home feed and LinkedIn Groups, which Unipile offers as "Unsupported features" recipes or does not list. And Curviate gives the agent controls it can read and set per account and per call: safety limits and read freshness.
If your product needs WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, Gmail, Outlook or calendars behind the same API, or your end users link their own accounts by the thousand through a white-label flow, you are Unipile's customer. If an agent is doing LinkedIn work (watching notifications, reading the feed, messaging, commenting, checking profile visitors and company page followers), you want the layer built for that agent.
How do Curviate and Unipile compare at a glance?
Unipile is a multi-channel API. Curviate is LinkedIn only, with more LinkedIn operations and the agent interfaces on top. Sources: Unipile's pricing page, its docs and its v1 and v2 specs, against Curviate's pricing and OpenAPI document. "Not listed" means I did not find it there.

Is Unipile good for AI agents?
Unipile is good for the developer writing an integration. Its MCP server helps while you build. It is not meant to be the agent's LinkedIn toolbox at runtime.
The live server exposes five tools. Four search and read Unipile's API reference, and execute-request runs a call against a connected account. The MCP README says it directly: "The MCP server is a build-time tool. Your agent uses it in the editor to discover, write and test the integration." The code your agent writes then calls the REST API or an SDK. I found no Unipile CLI on its dev tools page or in its GitHub organization.
Curviate is built for the agent at runtime. The MCP server lives at one URL, signs in with OAuth in Claude and ChatGPT or takes an API key, and its tools are LinkedIn actions: search, read a profile, send a message, comment. The CLI prints JSON when piped, returns stable exit codes, trims output with --fields and shows a write with --preview before it sends. The Curviate plugin (MIT, 9 skills) and my linkedin-plugin (MIT, 10 skills) teach an agent the workflows.
An agent watching for signals runs two commands:
# Who mentioned me, and what is in my feed
curviate notification list --account acc_1 --filter mentions --limit 20 --json
curviate feed home --account acc_1 --limit 10 --json
The same calls are on the API and the SDK, on one key and one per-account budget.
How deep does the Unipile LinkedIn API go?
Deepest where LinkedIn meets messaging and recruiting: 63 operations in stable v1 and 119 in beta v2, against Curviate's 130.
Unipile publishes no downloadable OpenAPI file, so I rebuilt its v1 and v2 specs from its public MCP server, which is generated from the live spec. Then I counted all three specs with one script. An operation is a path plus an HTTP method. The LinkedIn surface is everything except account, auth, key, webhook, safety and billing endpoints. Unipile's messaging operations count, though they also serve WhatsApp and other channels.
- Curviate: 130 operations, 39 of them beta (Sales Navigator, Recruiter, parts of the company page inbox).
- Unipile v1, the stable API: 63 (41 LinkedIn, profile and post operations, plus 22 messaging).
- Unipile v2: 119 (94 plus 25 messaging). Unipile says v2 "is currently in beta" and "may introduce breaking changes".
By LinkedIn surface:
| LinkedIn surface | Unipile | Curviate |
|---|---|---|
| Profiles, invitations, follows, endorsements | Yes | Yes |
| Messaging, InMail, attachments | Yes | Yes |
| Posts, comments, reactions | Yes, also as a company page | Yes, also as a company page |
| Search: people, companies, posts, jobs, from a URL | Yes | Yes |
| Search: groups, services | Filters only | Yes |
| Home feed | "Unsupported features" recipe | Yes |
| Notifications | Not listed | List, delete, show less |
| LinkedIn Groups: detail, members | Members as an "Unsupported features" recipe; detail not listed | Yes |
| Profile visitors, SSI | "Unsupported features" recipes | Yes |
| Company pages | Company profile, managed pages, page inbox | Profile, employees, posts, jobs, followers, follow invites, page inbox and reply |
| Job postings and applicants | Yes | Yes |
| Sales Navigator search and lists | Search and save-lead in stable v1; lists in v2 (beta) | Yes (beta) |
| Recruiter | 25 operations in v2, incl. creating projects | 23 (beta) |
The gap rows come down to Unipile's raw request route. Its list of unsupported features gives 11 recipes for it, among them the feed, group members, profile visitors and SSI. You find the internal endpoint "using your browser developer tools on LinkedIn" and parse the response yourself. Fine for a developer building an integration. For an agent it means maintaining a scraper, where a typed operation with a documented response is one tool call.
Where is Unipile stronger than Curviate?
Unipile is stronger when the buyer is a SaaS company with many users on many channels.
One Unipile integration covers LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, email and calendars, and its v2 has 40 webhook event types across them. Its hosted, white-label authentication suits a product whose customers connect their own accounts. Curviate links accounts through its API instead (POST /v1/auth/intent and checkpoints): your own UI collects the login and your backend passes it on. Unipile's v2 spec also has 25 Recruiter operations, including creating projects and reading job-slot credits.
Price depends on how many accounts you run. Unipile charges EUR 49 per month for up to 10 linked accounts across all channels, then EUR 5.00 per account per month from 11 to 50, excl. VAT (pricing). Curviate charges EUR 20 per account per month, or EUR 16 billed annually, excl. VAT, with every interface included. An agent working one or two accounts costs less on Curviate at the monthly price, and up to three on annual billing (EUR 48 against 49). A fleet of dozens is cheaper per account on Unipile.
How do safety limits and caching differ?
Both pace accounts. Unipile keeps the limits in its dashboard, Curviate puts them in the API where the agent can see them.
Unipile enforces rate limits per account and per route before a request reaches LinkedIn, with values in the Rate Limits tab of its dashboard. For invitations, its limits guide says "We don't enforce any limits on our side" and recommends 80 to 100 a day for a paid account, calling these "conservative recommendations".
In Curviate, GET and PATCH /v1/{account_id}/safety-policy read and set a ceiling per action. New accounts warm up below their ceilings, and /v1/{account_id}/safety-events logs every limit hit. Crossing a ceiling returns a warning by default; switch the account to the enforce posture and the call is refused. Your agent can read its own limits before it acts, and safety-events shows every limit it hit. The safety page has the rest.
The two cache at different layers. Unipile caches nearly every GET response (attachments excepted) for one hour by default, adjustable per request with Cache-Control headers. Curviate stores the reads agents repeat most. Person profiles keep for 12 hours by default (caching guide). Chats and chat messages are served at any age and refreshed when a message event says they changed (agent docs). Each of those reads takes mode (auto, live, refill, cache_only) and max_age, and reports observed_at and source. A stored answer spends none of the account's action budget.
Is Unipile or Curviate the right layer for your agent?
Unipile is plumbing for software that talks to many channels for many users. Curviate itself is built on it. Curviate adds the layer an agent needs on top: MCP tools that are LinkedIn actions, a CLI, open skills, limits it can read, and a cache it controls. If that is your setup, connect an account on the 3-day trial, no card required, and point your agent at the API, CLI, MCP or SDK.
